Chikins!

Joy has discovered that if she lies perfectly still, the wild wubba chikins' curiosity will overcome their timidity, and they will approach her. If everything goes according to plan, she will have a flock of pet chikins by the end of the month.

Just in case you don't know, wubba chikins are a "thing" in the Blythe doll community, and it was started by one woman, Juliet Waldon, who took pictures of her dolls with them, and mailed one free to anyone who asked. There is a whole Flickr group dedicated to Blythe and chikins, with Wednesday being proclaimed "Wubba Wednesday". Really! To take a look at this group, click HERE.

Mustache Monday

Drink up! Milk is good for your body!

(This has been a paid endorsement.)

Paisley's acting career is starting to take off...the National Dairy Counsel has chosen her for their spokesperson! It's a good thing she likes milk...she must have swallowed a gallon of it, trying to get her milk mustache just right.

Read a Book

Does Zelda read because she's smart? Or is she smart because she reads?

Cinema Princess Got Her Horse

For Cecilia, it was love at first sight.
For Maximus, it was all about the carrot.

This is Cinema Princess, wearing her stock riding outfit, which is surprisingly detailed and complete. Since she came with a riding outfit, she needed a horse, and I really like this one, which I found at WalMart...he is Maximus from the animated movie Tangled. I remember watching that movie and thinking that the horse was the best character, and I guess the toy manufacturers must have agreed.  He was more interesting-looking than the Barbie horse on a nearby shelf. He has a gorgeous long mane and tail with sparkly threads in them, as well as a saddle and bridle. Oh, and yes, he did come with that carrot!

Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Hi, it's me, Jubilee. I went to the theme park this week...Busch Gardens is just a short drive from my house. (Leslie drove me, of course.) Here I am, trying to decide if I will ride that roller coaster or not. It turned out, not! It's a fun place to go, even if you don't ride the rides. There's lots to see, and if you're hungry you can get Dippin' Dots like I did!

Sorry I look a little blurry here; Leslie was trying to hold too many things in her hands at once and this is the best she could do.

Swap Package for Angie

I've been a Facebook friend of Angie Coppi for quite a while...almost two years, I think. She is a life-long quilter, and since getting into Blythe, she has been making quilt and pillow sets on a small scale for dolls. Last summer we decided to do a swap: she would make me a quilt set in colors of my choosing, and I would make some clothes for her girls. We both have been busy with other things and agreed to take our time with our packages. I received Angie's package last week; I posted pictures of the wonderful pink and turquoise bedding she sent me HERE .

I'm happy to say that I also finished my package for her! In addition to a couple of things I sent her before Christmas as a sort of down payment on my swap, I sent her the four outfits below. The blue dress is for her newest girl, who didn't have a personalized dress from me yet. The black outfit is a sleeveless dress with a bolero jacket and matching bag. The yellow dress is made from the long-sleeve pattern I drafted to make Angie a white dress for a St. Lucia picture over a year ago...this dress has a matching knitted vest and a felt shoulder bag, which is something NEW! I'm quite excited about this bag, and the one that goes with the green dress, because I love working with felt and I think these bags look great. I intend to make more, to sell in my Etsy shop either separately or as part of outfits like these. Last but not least, the green dress is my standard sleeveless dress made from three coordinated fabrics, paired with a short-sleeved cardigan. I realized after I took this picture that you can't tell that the sweater is short-sleeved, so I took another picture to show it off better, which you will find below.

Angie has just received this package, and she reports that she and her girls are very happy with everything!

Difference of Opinion

Friends don't have to agree on everything.

My friend Angie Coppi sent us these dresses for my birthday...we love them!

After spending hours studying her cookbook, Ann was able to create a pizza that is sure to impress her family and friends.

Fascinating Bedtime Reading

She didn't have time to stop by the library today, so Ann's options for bedtime reading are extremely limited.

This is Ann, my UFO A GoGo Blythe doll, reading a tiny cookbook we received in a swap a few years ago. It actually has "real" pages!

Beautiful New Bedding, Part II

Yesterday, Ellie decided to sleep on the sofa so she wouldn't mess up the beautiful new quilt set on the bed. Ann had no problem making herself comfortable, however!

Ann always has a hard time getting started in the morning.

Beautiful New Bedding

What do you do when you want to go to sleep, but your bed looks so beautiful with the new quilt and pillows that you don't want to ruin the effect?

I guess Ellie will be sleeping on the sofa tonight.

Thank you to Angie Coppi for the gorgeous bedding set. She hand-sewed the quilt (which is very detailed, with lace, beads, and quilted hearts), using colors that I requested; she also hand-sewed the matching pillows and sleep mask; and she knitted the amazing throw from bamboo yarn--which I've never heard of before--it is extremely soft and beautiful. This is Angie's half of a swap we are doing...I am still working on my package for her. I think I need to "up" my game a little, in light of these fabulous gifts!

Ellie is my Ichigo Heaven Blythe doll. She got her name thanks to another swap I did...that swap partner was getting a new doll, and was trying to decide on a name for her. The top contender was "Ellie", so I went ahead and made a white dress with that name embroidered on it as part of the swap. But...you guessed it...she decided on a different name for the doll, so I kept the dress and used the name for the next girl to enter my dolly family!

Hospitality

Beryl's friends call her the "Queen of Hospitality", because she always has fruit punch and a freshly-baked cake on hand in case they stop by unexpectedly (which they do...because they love punch and cake!)

The blue-haired dolls are Daphne and Waverly, my Candy Carnival Blythes. Beryl, the green-haired girl, is Enchanted Petal.

Contrast

There is beauty in contrast.

These are my darkest and lightest Blythe dolls: Cherry Beach Sunset, whose skin tone is "mocha", and Cousin Olivia, whose skin tone is "very fair". I saw them side-by-side on the shelf and needed to photograph them together!

Good News

Clutching the letter from her friend in her hand, Heidi smiled and nodded in agreement as a Bible verse came to mind: "Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land." (Proverbs 25:25)
