The secret to happiness: be thankful for what you have.

I'm thankful for this Ichigo Heaven Blythe doll!

Custom Order

These custom-order panties were a challenge! They are all characters from Studio Ghibli movies: soot sprites, Totoro, and Jiji cat. I posted this picture on my Facebook for my doll clothes (Blythe Happy) and it's gotten MUCH more attention than my posts usually do--I guess a lot of Blythe collectors love these movies!

Strawberry Question

This is the most recent Sonny Angel to join my collection--and he is my favorite! I love his pink strawberry head and his matching pink cheeks. He is just plain cute!

When I started thinking about it, I wondered, why did they make his strawberry head pink, instead of red? Then I remembered that a while ago, I made the pink strawberry pincushion in this picture. Why? Because pink is pretty! So I guess that answers my question about the Sonny Angel.

Of course, I chose London (Prima Dolly London) to pose for this picture because of her pink hair. I made her dress several years ago, and it is almost perfect for this theme...although now I wish I had made that strawberry pink too!

Shine Like the Sun

Hoping everyone is having a bright, sunshiny day.

This is Prudence, my Ms. Retro Mama Blythe doll. She has been here for a few months, but I haven't had time to play with her until now. She has been wearing her stock red dress--heavy fabric, long sleeves, high neckline--and heavy yellow tights, and just looking at her made me feel hot and uncomfortable...so I made her this cheerful summer dress, and now she looks MUCH better!

Blythe Beauties

If this were a beauty contest, I wonder who would win? This original Kenner Blythe doll, released in 1972 on the left; or the latest 2016 Takara release, Allegra Champagne, on the right?

Little Black Dress

Here's Bridget, aka Allegra Champagne, in her stock black dress. She came with two pairs of shoes, isn't that awesome? This gold pair is my favorite; the other pair is solid black with a small heel and ankle strap (which I love, because those shoes don't fall off).

Where are you going, Bridget? Some sort of fancy charity event, or perhaps a televised awards ceremony? You look too fabulous to be doing anything ordinary!

Lady of the Ring

Blythe a Day on Flickr
Theme: Lord of the Rings

You've heard of Lord of the Rings. This is his Blythe counterpart:

Bridget, the Lady of The Ring.

...the golden pullring, that is!

This is Allegra Champagne, of course! The 15th Anniversary Blythe doll. She has a lovely pearly sheen to her face, and two-toned lips (the top lip is a darker pink than the bottom one). She comes with two complete outfits, including two pairs of shoes (the gold ones are especially nice, I will have to show those off another time, since you can't see them in this picture). Everything about her is fantastic!

TWO Allegra Champagnes???

Take a look at this picture. This is me, with not one, but TWO of the just-released 15th Anniversary Blythe dolls, Allegra Champagne. How on earth did I end up with two?

It all started about two months ago, when I entered the lottery to have a chance to buy her from Junie Moon. I did it just for fun, because although she looked pretty, with her high price tag and "normal" colored hair, I didn't think she was for me. When I found out I had won the lottery, I had mixed feelings--I still didn't think she was for me, but so many people want her, maybe I should get her? I thought maybe I could keep her in her box, and later sell or trade her for a doll that I really wanted. Then, about two weeks ago, I saw a new picture of her on Facebook, posted by CC Toys. She looked so gorgeous in that photo! That's all it took for me to decide that I needed her in my life, so I quickly paid the invoice I had been ignoring in my email from Junie Moon. She arrived a few days ago. Today I decided it was time to open her, because she is just too lovely to leave in her box. So, while I was working my way through all the tape and plastic and twist ties, the doorbell rang. It was the mailman. He had a box I needed to sign for. It looked suspiciously like a Blythe box, but I knew I wasn't expecting anything. I opened it up, and sure enough, it's Allegra #2. I checked my credit card, and I've only been charged for one, so I guess someone just made a mistake. I have sent them an email, and I'm hoping they will say "Just keep her!" That's bound to happen, right???

Okay, so that's not going to happen. At my daughter's suggestion, she took this picture of me as photographic proof that just for a little while, I did indeed have two Allegra Champagnes.

Tiny Things

"Patty, hold my hand so you don't fall off the chair."

"Oh! You dropped your slipper. Don't worry, I'll put it on for you."

I just made the TINIEST things I've ever made...these slippers for Patty, my new Petite Blythe, are so small I couldn't even sew them, I had to glue the pieces together (the flower on top is sewn, though). I will be offering these nightgown and slipper sets in my Etsy shop sometime soon...after I get caught up on some other sewing!

Girls of Summer

So...it's August, and I realized it was time to take down the red, white and blue/Independence Day decorations from the mantel. Here's what I replaced them with: peachy-pink-haired girls, all wearing summery white dresses. Just for fun, they are each wearing one of the little crown hairclips I found at a toy store last month.

When I first started collecting Blythe dolls, I planned to make one of these white dresses for each girl, with her name embroidered on it. So far, only about ten of the girls have gotten their dresses...and I have about fourty Blythes! Candy (third from left) is the only one actually wearing a dress with her own name on it, everyone else has borrowed a dress from one of her sisters!

Just in case you are wondering which releases these Blythe dolls are, here you go: from left to right they are Prima Dolly Peach, Coco Collette, My Little Candy, Stella Savannah, Mademoiselle Rosebud, and Spright Beauty.

Home Alone

Blythe a Day on Flickr
Theme: Home Alone

Just as Juliette settled onto the sofa in her pajamas, ready to spend a relaxing evening at home alone, she heard the worst possible sound: THE DOORBELL.

Juliette is my Sadie Sprinkle Blythe doll.

Twilight

Blythe a Day on Flickr
Theme: Twilight

Marina's favorite time of day is twilight
especially when the moon is coming up over the hills.

I got a few of the McDonald's Happy Meal toys from the movie "The Secret Life of Pets", and these two dogs are my favorites.
